Vestergaard Frandsen
A brief background of the SANRU III project in D.R.C.

In 1960, I.M.A. was formed to represent Protestant relief and development organizations in requesting donated medicines and medical supplies from the pharmaceutical manufacturers. Today I.M.A. obtains medicines and medical supplies for emergency, health and development programs on behalf of 12 of the largest U.S. Protestant relief and development agencies. Interchurch Medical Assistance (I.M.A.) and the Church of Christ of Congo (ECC) have received a grant from USAID for five years to provide core-funding for the SANRU III project. At least 75% of these resources will go to rural health zones for priority primary health care interventions and health zone support systems. SANRU III is designed to strengthen the capacity of sixty NGO-managed health zones for priority primary health care (PHC) interventions and health zone support systems. One of SANRU?s interventions in primary health care is the large scale distribution of insecticide treated nets in the health zones. SANRU III will distribute PermaNet® long lasting insecticide treated nets to help fight malaria in the D.R.C
