PermaNet® donated to 500 children in Niger

Vestergaard Frandsen donated 500 PermaNet® to the school children in Niamey, Niger. Below is an excerpt from the 'Letter of Thanks':
Dear Mr. Vestergaard,
On behalf of the children at CES Rive Droite High School in Niamey, Niger, and the International Organization for Women & Development, I extend my sincere thanks to you for donating 500 permanets to the students
I do want you to know how much your generous gift means to these children...many of whom could NEVER afford to buy a net for their beds! We have donated 425 nets so far and your 500 nets will bring a total of 925 children who have received these "gifts of life"! Please know that it was the students of the English Club who asked me to help them in regard to malaria. You see so many of their siblings and friends were becoming so ill with malaria ...and so many were dying! How could I say no?
We started the Malaria Prevention Program at this one school. The students cleaned up the school grounds...all the plastic bags that play host to mosquito eggs when a drop of water falls on the bags, were removed; all the stagnant water in barrels or puddles were covered up; the Parents Association were notified of the program and the local Chief of the area was notified as well; students made posters of how to use the mosquito nets and the younger children were given prevention suggestions by the older students. We are hoping to collect data showing fewer students with malaria....if this program is successful, we will move on to another school. And then another. But first, we must make sure that every child at Rive Droite (over 2600 of them) will have a mosquito net. I know we will do it! One child at a time, one school at a time.
Thank you again for your generosity
Most Sincerely,
Barbara A. Margolies
