LifeStraw® - Customer Acceptability

Elsanousi, S. et al. 2009. A study of the use and impacts of LifeStraw in a settlement camp in southern Gezira, Sudan. Journal of Water and Health; 07.3

Study design: 647 people from 134 households participated. Study design included no control group, seasonal influence on diarrhoea not taken into account.

Outcome: Compliance rates were good with 86.5% of people saying they always used the LifeStraw®. 9.8% saying they were occasional users and 3.7% saying they had never used it.

Outcome: High product uptake: 83% current users after 2 months.17% stopped using the product because they found it was too difficult to draw up water through it.
